Elder Blair,
LOVE reading your blog. I don't know ANY of the music
references, however. : )

You'll read this after Thanksgiving. I hope you got
through it. I hope you were homesick. In my view homesickness, while painful, means
that you know there are beloved people out there who love and miss you.
It means you love and are loved--not bad things, really.
I sometimes hold back from talking about the Savior because it seems commonplace to chat about so sacred a subject. But just so you know, Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer and I have a sacred personal witness of his presence. His work permeates everything in my life. The creation of the Earth is His work--including each of us with our gifts and talents. I'm grateful. In my turn on Earth I'm trying to do His work and to follow Him. I love his Prophets, Seers and Revelators and have seen them give clearly inspired counsel through the years.
(You probably know that Family Home Evening was instigated at a transition time when family members would no longer be working together in agriculture or in laborious home tasks. Electricity, TV, and subsequent technology would change family dynamics. The Lord wanted to preserve families, so he used his Prophets: “We advise and urge the inauguration of a ‘Home Evening’ throughout the church, at which time fathers and mothers may gather their boys and girls about them in the home and teach them the word of the Lord.” —President Joseph F. Smith,1915 )
I love working in the Temple, in the Lord's House. It's a relief to leave worldly concerns outside and help people receive these sacred ordinances. I've worked in the Baptistry the last two weeks and love seeing these young people come pouring in--so many youth crowding the benches and waiting for a turn. Last week one broad-shouldered handsome young man was performing the baptisms and during a lull he told me he was a newly returned missionary. "I wanted to stay out of trouble, so this is a good place to be!"

The work you have been called to do is His--a privilege and
a blessing. And not easy. (I liked Jordan's description of missions
on your blog.)
We love you, Elder. HOLA a tu compañero. Ustedes están
en nuestras oraciones.
Love Always,
