Taking Life

So what about ABORTION?  I've written this elsewhere, but I say we as a nation have brought a curse on ourselves by legalizing it.

Following the Judeo-Christian Ethic, Americans value life.  It cost over $100,000. to keep Mike Stanley alive in his final few weeks. We go to great lengths to protect and prolong it.

How can we reconcile this hypocrisy?  A mother grieves over the murder of her beautiful 5 yo child, killed in a school shooting, but if that same mother, five years earlier, had chosen to destroy that child herself, we congratulate her for saying, "My body, my choice!"

Abortion should be illegal in the USA, for the good of our national conscience.  (I'll skip details here but it should be legal for incest, rape, for any girl who is a minor, and to save a mother's life. The penalty should be minimal, a few dollars. Drs. should not be penalized. Men who caused the pregnancy should be fined the most.)

We should value life at its roots.  Once conception occurs, this little being is the body of a real person, and trying to dismiss it just doesn't work. Among the other sorrows, most sensible young mothers carry the regret for years.  "Today my child would have started KG. By now she would be driving. Etc.")

One may feel like it's OK because it's legal, or because someone you love has given you permission--but the permission isn't theirs to give. And it's not legal in the eyes of Heaven.

Nine months feels long, but it's a price worth paying.  And someone, somewhere, wants your baby.

FYI, I don't claim that adoption solves everything, but it's not an unreasonable choice.

For anyone who has made the choice not to keep a baby and wonders about it now, I believe there's a way to find peace. In today's world, it is all but encouraged so it may have seemed like a wise choice at one point, but there is comfort and compensation to be found.
